Most legal problems don’t start as legal problems. They start as a quick question nobody asked, a decision made without checking, or an email that should have been read by a solicitor. These are the ones we hear most weeks at Lawyerly.
Legal query
A new product, a new market, a new way of charging or a new partner. We tell you what the law says, where the risk sits and how to do it properly, in plain English and in time to be useful.
Urgent document review
A letter from a lawyer, a notice from a regulator, a contract you have been asked to sign today. We read it, tell you what it means and what to do next, usually the same day.
Second opinion
Taking on a big customer, letting someone go, changing your terms, restructuring. We give you the legal view alongside the commercial one, so you decide with the full picture.
business legal advice
Good legal advice is not a document. It is a conversation with someone who knows your business, at the moment the decision is being made. We pair you with a solicitor who learns how you operate, then stays on hand for the everyday questions as well as the big ones.
When something urgent lands, whether that is a letter, a notice or a deal that needs an answer today, you already have a solicitor who knows your business and can act the same day.

Ask a question through the Client Hub or book a call. You get a practical answer from a solicitor who knows your business, not a generic note, and you can ask as often as you need.
Advice that fits how your industry actually works, on contracts, people, compliance, data, IP and payment problems, so you stay adaptable and able to respond quickly as issues arise.
Beyond the immediate question, we help you plan: which agreements to put in place, which risks to close first and what to prepare before the next stage of growth, so legal work supports the plan rather than interrupting it.
With Lawyerly, it stops being a worry, and becomes an advantage.
We pair you with one of our qualified solicitors whose expertise and experience fits your business.
Work with your legal professional through our online Client Hub. Wherever you are, whenever you need us.

Our commercial solicitors have worked at top-tier law firms and global legal departments, the kind of senior legal team most SMEs can't justify building in-house.

James is a commercial and corporate solicitor whose practice centres on commercial contracts, technology and intellectual property, and disputes. As Commercial Solicitor at Lawyerly, James brings that range to growing businesses that want advice of that standard without the apparatus of a traditional firm. He negotiates and manages contracts, advises on technology and intellectual property, and helps clients head off the disputes that derail growth. Jackie has spent twenty years working on how legal services reach the people and businesses that need them. Before co-founding Lawyerly she built and led one of Africa's largest alternative legal organisations, growing it to more than 300 people serving 100,000 clients, and her work there was recognised in legal services, technology, innovation and dispute resolution. She holds a PhD, awarded with distinction, and has been named among the top five women in legal technology.
At Lawyerly she is responsible for the firm's strategic direction. Her starting point has not changed in two decades: the law should work for the people who use it, rather than the other way round. That view shapes how Lawyerly is run, from how services are priced to how matters are staffed.

Willem co-founded Lawyerly after twenty years of running and advising businesses, most of which were spent as a client of law firms rather than a member of one. He had seen how legal advice tends to arrive: late, priced by the hour, and detached from the commercial decision that prompted it. Lawyerly grew out of a conviction that it could be done differently.
He read law and marketing at university and later completed MIT Sloan's executive programme in artificial intelligence and business strategy. His career before Lawyerly took in two advertising agencies, which he led through the industry's move to digital, several years in digital publishing, and a period in international development, working on programmes across South East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
At Lawyerly he is responsible for growth and for the client experience, ensuring our clients receive the legal support they need.

Jan began his career in law before broadening into corporate strategy and technology. He holds a Master's in Corporate Law and an MBA, and later completed a Master's in Applied Data Science, driven by a conviction that the legal profession could do far more with the data it generates. That combination of legal, commercial, and analytical training has shaped a career spent rethinking how legal services are designed and delivered, with a particular focus on projects that use data and digital tools to improve legal processes.
As a director of Lawyerly, Jan is responsible for data and analytics, financial management and strategy, and brings legal grounding, commercial judgement and technical fluency to how the firm is run.

Answers to the questions we hear most often, on how the subscription works, what it covers and how we charge.
Unlimited access to your solicitor for the everyday legal questions a business has: contracts, customers, suppliers, staff, data, brand, payment and compliance. You can ask through the Client Hub or book a call, and where a question turns into a piece of work, such as a contract or a policy, that is covered by the relevant service in your plan. Subscribers also get a solicitor who learns the business over time, which is what makes the advice quick and specific.
Legal advice is included in all our subscription plans, with no cap on the number of questions. If you are not a subscriber, we offer advice on a fixed fee agreed in advance, so you know the cost before you ask. There are no hourly rates and no surprise invoices.
Most questions are answered the same working day, and urgent ones within hours. Where the answer needs research or a document review, we tell you when to expect it. Subscribers can see the status of every request in the Client Hub.
You can find the law online. What you cannot find is how it applies to your facts, your contract and your sector, or which of the ten things you have read actually matters. A solicitor who knows your business gets you to the right answer in minutes and tells you when the safe-looking option is the risky one. Most of our clients say the value is in the questions they would not have thought to ask.
Yes. Lawyerly is an SRA-regulated law firm and all our solicitors are qualified and insured. You get the protection of instructing a regulated firm with the convenience of a subscription.
Yes. We begin with a written view of where the matter stands today and take it forward from there. Tell us about it at the start and we will factor it into the plan.
A legal question rarely arrives alone. These are the services our clients ask about most.
Formal demands, letters before action and repayment arrangements that recover unpaid invoices and keep the cash flowing.
ExploreStrategy, cost control and coordination when a matter goes to court: we brief and instruct the litigation firm, hold their budget to account and stay alongside you.
ExploreFranchise agreements, disclosure documents and manual reviews for franchisors and franchisees, at every stage of building or joining a network.
